Faithful Spotless Remnant

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Jeremmiah 42:1-6:
"Then all the army officiers...and all the people from the least to the greatest approached Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, "Please hear our petition and pray to the Lord your God for this entire remnant. For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left. Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do."
"I have heard you," replied Jeremiah the prophet. "I will certainly pray to the Lord your God as you have requested; I will tell you everything the Lord says and will keep nothing back from you." Then they said to Jeremiah, "May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us. Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God."

~Well, while the remnant of Judah has vowed to do the bidding of the Lord, by the next chapter we read that they are calling Jeremiah a liar and refusing to obey the word he gave them from the Lord. "O remnant of Judah, the Lord has told you, 'Do not go to Egypt.' Be sure of this: I warn you today that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the Lord your God and said, 'Pray to the Lord our God for us; tell us everything He says and we will do it.' I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the Lord your God in all He sent me to tell you."

In addition to this passage, the Lord had me read Ezekiel 24:1-14 and Isaiah chapter 24; both of those passages has to do with the Lord dealing with rebelliousness towards doing His will. Ezekiel 24 uses a cooking pot as an example of how God was going to cook the contents of the pot, even the empty pot itself "till it becomes hot and its copper glows so its impurities may be melted and its deposit burned away." But to no avail: "It has frustrated all efforts; its heavy deposit has not been removed, not even by fire." V.14) "I, the Lord have spoken. The time has come for me to act. I will not hold back; I will not have pity, nor will I relent. You will be judged according to your conduct and your actions, declares the Sovereign Lord."

We are seeing this the whole world through, the Lord is moving in a mighty way--removing impurities through His "fire." These fires may take many forms, but be sure of this, everything that can be shaken is being shaken this season. Be aware that even the Church is being "laundered" and made spotless. The Lord will not crush us, but He is doing a good work in us...maybe even unpleasant at times!
"From the ends of the earth we hear singing: "Glory to the Righteous One." But I said, "I waste away, I waste away! Woe to me! The treacherous betray! With treachery the treacherous betray!" (Is. 24:16) Even the righteous are being afflicted by wicked plots of evil doers. Oh, the Lord is quick to save, but make no mistake, we will learn to endure and have perseverance.

"The floodgates of the heavens are opened, the foundations of the earth shake....the earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion...In that day the Lord will punish the powers in the heavens above and the kings on the earth below. " (Is. 24:18b,20-21). We are in the days of wrath, my friend. We will shine even brighter as sons of light, but the rest is in darkness. We need to follow closely the Light of the world, Christ Jesus. Be the "remnant" that is faithful and obedient; sensitive to the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
