Weekend Bible Study

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word is a rather long study coming from Proverbs 26:24-26, Proverbs 22:8,10, Genesis 21:8-12, Romans chapter 9 and Hosea 8:7-10. I will list only selected verses below:
"A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit. Though his speech is charming, do not believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart (see Proverbs 6:16-19). His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly." Proverbs 26:24-26

"He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed." Proverbs 22:8

"But Sarah saw that the son whom Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham was mocking, and she said to Abraham, 'Get rid of that slave woman and her son, for that slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with my son Isaac.'" Genesis21:9-10

"Just as it is written: 'Jacob I loved, but Esau I d.' (Mal.1:2-3) What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For He says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.' It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.' Therefore God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden." Romans 9:13-18

"They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind....Although they have sold themselves among the nations, I will now gather them together. They will begin to waste away under the oppression of the mighty king." Hosea 7a,10

~With such a conglomeration of scriptures, are you wondering what the Lord is telling us this day? Starting from the beginning verses in Proverbs the Lord is telling us about the mentality and heart conditions of those who Israel and plot their destruction. And as I have experienced from living in Syria, it is not confined to just a few, but instead, it is the normal social/religious/governmental climate running throughout many Islamic countries and their leaders. Secondly, the verses in Genesis 21 and Romans 9 open up a huge discussion on God's freedom of choice amd election, i.e., whom He shows mercy and whom He hardens their hearts. Consequently, through no work or effort, or heritage or lineage can we say we are children of Abraham, rather, it is only through belief in the Seed, Jesus Christ, that we are made heirs of the promise and partakers of the covenant. So, the Lord is telling us prophetically that it is He who is hardening the hearts of the enemies of Israel for His purpose. As I have witnessed and experienced from my time living in the Middle East, this hardness of their hearts is like nothing we can compare with in the West--one really needs to read the scriptures in Proverbs to understand the wickedness that comes from this hardness of hearts. (begin Proverbs 6:16-19). In 2 Thessalonians 2:7 the verse talks about the "secret power of lawlessness"; this 'secret' can only be revealed by God, much in the same way that other "mysteries" Paul writes about are revealed. Therefore, we must study the Word and pray for discernment, for we are not living in times where we can be spoon-fed revelation, but the Word is a lamp unto our feet, and it is dark now. Lastly, the passage in Hosea is important because the Lord again confirms His word that we are living in the times of Daniel 11; the wars of the North and South. Expect that the enemies of Israel will begin to get more and more fierce and bold in their attacks as Israel "will begin to waste away under the oppression of the mighty king." (Hosea 8:10). In that verse I discern that the "mighty king" is symbolic of the antichrist. A few months ago the Lord gave me a vision about a beast coming up from the sea with human hands---again I will say that I believe that this was confirming that the antichrist, or the "mighty king" from the Hosea verse, is on earth. Fellow saints, we should be so happy and living each day expecting to see the goodness and divine protective power of our Sovereign Lord, even as we watch for His Son, Jesus Christ to return.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
