Fork in the Road

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's verse comes from Ezekiel chapter 21, of which I will share verses 18-23:
"The word of the Lord came to me: "Son of man, mark out two roads for the sword of the king of Babylon to take, both starting from the same country. Make a signpost where the road branches off to the city. Mark out one road for the sword to come against Rabbah of the Ammonites and another against Judah and fortified Jerusalem. For the king of Bablylon will stop at the fork in the road, at the junction of the two roads, to seek an omen: He will cast lots with arrows, he will consult his idols, he will examine the liver. Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem, where he is to set up battering rams, to give the command to slaughter, to sound the battle cry, to set battering rams against the gates, to build a ramp and to erect seige works. It will seem like a false omen to those who have sworn allegiance to him, but he will remind them of their guilt and take them captive."

~I recall in September '03 when I received this passage. I discerned then that the United States was the one coming up out of the "same country" and would be facing a tough decision: to turn against Israel and her best interests or to set their faces against the enemies of Israel. The US had decided to turn against Israel in accordance with the word given in verse 22 and make her give up her land, Gaza, in September '05. That decision in turn led to the fulfillment of another 2 other prophecies the Lord gave at that time that basically said,; 1) Israel would regret putting her trust in her Egyptian neighbors, who would prove worthless to her--they were supposed to control the border between Egypt and Palestine and did not, so Israel was attacked from Gaza with mortars; and 2) that terrible calamity (storm, earthquake, 'tempest') would result in the the nation that took away Israel's inheritance--which we saw the fulfillment of this with Hurricane Katrina exactly one week after US demands were given into by Israel to move out of Gaza.

Make no mistake about it: The United States is at that "fork in the road" again. She will have to decide whether she will support Israel and her offensives against her enemies, OR to put pressure on Israel to return home, possibly give up more 'land for peace', which there will be no peace--but only divine judgement against the United States. Yesterday's word was in regard to those people in the United States, both within the government and general population that promote an arrogant and naive idea of "peace in the Middle East" at Israel's expense...and will deny that there was any connection between Katrina and the Lord's wrath. They are sadly mistaken and are setting themselves up for an even greater calamity to hit this nation. Let's pray this day that our nation, our government leaders and our population at large, will choose to support Israel and make decisions and hold opinions that are truly in the best interest of Israel. We also pray that the Lord will strengthen our resolve to stand by the convictions the Holy Spirit has put in our hearts--as we seek Him--to pursue humility, justice, and faithfulness to the Word of God in our daily lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
