Quit Worrying and Trust in Him

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Genesis 32:1-3,6-9,11:
"Jacob also went on his way, and the angels of God met him. When Jacob saw them, he said, "This is the camp of God!" So he named that place Mahanaim (two camps).Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the country of Edom....When the messengers returned to Jacob, they said, "We went to your brother Esau, and now he is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him." In great fear and distress Jacob divided the peoplewho were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well. He thought, "If Esau comes and attacks one group, the group that is left may escape." Then Jacob prayed, "O God of my father Abraham, God ofmy father Isaac, O Lord, who said to me, 'Go back to your country and your relatives, and I will make you prosper,'....Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau, forI am afraid he will come and attack me, and also the mothers with their children."

~The passage starts out with Jacob welcoming angels of God into his camp--they were sent to protect him on his journey back to Canaan. Then, Jacob gets scared when he hears Esau was approaching with four hundred men--were God's angels not enough? But just to be on the safe side, Jacob reasons that he will take matters into his own hands and divde his camp into two groups...then, he prayed again for protection,... then, he divided them even further into groups of "gifts" he would give Esau to pacify him, should he still harbor revenge in his heart. It is almost comical to see Jacob act this way, but the Lord reminds us today that many of us act the same way. We pray for protection and His presence and God says, "OK," and arrives on the scene. Then, we try to reinforce the situation with our own ideas; then, we pray worriedly; then, we try to estimate our losses should things go terribly wrong and resign to just give that over, or settle for less, and pretty soon even those we are fearing are saying to us just as Esau said to Jacob, "What do you mean by all these droves I met?", i.e. "What in the world are you doing?" Whatever the situation is, stop being so fearful and trust the Lord.

On a personal note, I will be gone to a prophetic healing conference in Grand Rapids (Bob Jones and others speaking) for the next few days, so I will be writing again on Monday. Please pray that everyone at the conference will be blessed and receives all the teaching and revelation that the Lord seeks to give us.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
