A Form of Godliness But Denying Its Power

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from 2 Timothy chapters 3-4, of which I will share selected verses:
3:1-5) "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love , unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--have nothing to do with them."
V.14-17) "But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

~And so it is--God, equipping us for every good work He would have us do. Know for sure that just as we are being called and led to our "assignments" for this season that the battle cry has been sounded. Several times in those chapters Paul tells of his hardships at the hands of dangerous men, reminding us that "everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." Imposters of what? They pose as God-fearers, "having a form of godliness but denying its power." Let's pray today that our Savior will strengthen us as we accept the call He has put on our lives; that we will not back down, but rather, will stand firm and call upon His name to guide us, to deliver us, to encourage us even as we say "Yes!" and "Amen!"
"Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the Lord..."See, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them,...You will winnow them, the wind will pick them up, and a gale will blow them away. But you will rejoice in the Lord and glory in the Holy One of Israel." (Isaiah 41:14-16). This was part of the word given for the place the Holy Spirit has sent me for this season. Yet again I will speak the words He gives and watch it prove true; the Holy Spirit will shine the light of Truth into dark places and I will watch it bring joy of sight and healing for some, and for others it will cause them to want to rebel or flee. In either case, the Lord's purposes will be worked out--what a honor and pleasure it is to serve the Lord!
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
