Contend for Our Faith

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Jude 3:
"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints."

~We have been entrusted with the Truth, the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we are to "contend" for this faith. Contending is not quietly sitting by, or even assuming the defensive position when we feel threatened. No, contending is forward movement; asserting and teaching; a reaching out and educating those around us of the truth of our faith; Jesus is Lord. Much of today's conventional thinking contends right along with us. Then of course, there are those that the book of Jude talks about: "godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." (Jude 4b).

It is important to contend for our faith. The new "Book of Judas" is nothing more than a heretical book written by 2-3rd century agnostics...we've already been warned of their false teachings and writings by several New Testament books! The "Da Vinci Code" perpetuates lies about Jesus and tries to weave strands of disbelief into the Christian community---pluck out those stands and bind truth to listening ears! I am encouraging us today to not be lazy in sharing our faith and the truth of Jesus Christ with others. Contend, even with a smile! Each of us has been entrusted with faith, knowledge and the truth of Jesus Christ, Son of God. May His name be ever on our lips.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
