Joyride In Faith
Greetings in the Lord!
Today's word is from Luke 9:1-6:
"When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: "Take nothing for the journey--no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people do not welcome you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave their town, as a testimony against them." So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.
~At the moment Jesus sent the Twelve out to preach and heal as they had seen him do, a new phase was begun in Jesus' ministry...and a new phase, too, for the Twelve. For the first time they would be "on the front line," so to speak. No more standing behind Jesus listening as he confronts Pharisees, and no more lying back while he taught them about the kingdom of God. No, they were rolling up their sleeves and getting down to work. Some would even encounter resistance, and Jesus tells them what to do if they are rejected--"shake the dust off your feet." The Lord had given me word before that by May/June of this year many people would be moving out of their "watching" stage and moving into the call that had been put on their life. Don't be afraid! Realize that the Lord has already equipped you to do the work! And just as the Twelve were told not to bring anything extra or the usual necessities, we also will be put into situations where we must put all our trust in God to provide for us. Once again, I encourage you, don't be afraid--instead get ready for a great ride! Pursuing the call on your life and stepping out in faith is as enjoyable for us as it is pleasing to God.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
