Light in the Darkness

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Mark 12:24-27 and Matthew 17:1-17, of which I will share selected verses:
Mark 12:24-27) "Jesus replied, "Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. Now about the dead rising--have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!"

Matthew 17:1-3) "After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountian by themselves. There he was transformed before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus."

~The Lord has given me the transfiguration story to read so many times lately...either, I'm not quite getting it or He is really emphasizing the coming of His power on earth to raise the righteous from the dead...even now while His glory is shining upon (and through) us making us brighter and brighter! "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living." We are eternal beings in Christ Jesus. One study note says: "In the resurrection there will be a new order of existence brought about by 'the power of God.'" (Zondervan, NIV). We are certainly entering a new order of things---God is tearing down strongholds and promoting his people like never before! In the spirit, we should know that we are beginning to shine "as bright as the sun" as we allow Jesus to have more domain over our lives. Recently, I had a prophetic dream that prepared me to minister at an inner city church in Grand Rapids. In my dream, I was speaking to a group of exuberant kids and telling them, "When Jesus' power comes down upon us, we are made strong!" and I flexed my arm muscles to them. They understood it and were so happy. They hugged me and didn't want me to go. I left the church with one female congregate and we slid down a long slide to reach the cold and grey outdoors. At the bottom of the slide was torn flesh and piles of poop! Together, we manuvered carefully....the point was, that the Lord was equipping them inside the church for their charge of evangelizing the drug infested and violent streets below. May we begin this day to allow the light of Christ in us to shine in the dark places where we have been called. Amen~
