Tree of Life II

Greetings in the Lord! I'm being shaken from my restful month to share with you an urgent prayer request. If you may recall, on November 1st I wrote a blog titled, "Tree of Life." In it, I shared a vision the Lord gave me about the local high school here in Big Rapids. First, the Spirit put on my heart to pray "for the light and life of Christ to fill that school." Then, the Lord gave me a vision. In this vision the school was represented by a huge oak tree on a hill and its leaves, fruit and branches provided healing, knowledge, and shelter for the kids of this region (it is a "school of choice" and kids come from as far as an hour away to attend). However, after a moment I saw that there were many dead bodies hanging on the tree branches and became alarmed. I prayed that the Lord would cut down those hanging bodies and breathe His Life back into them. I believed at the time that those bodies were dead dreams, hopes, relationships, etc. and pra

Restful December Notice

Greetings in the Lord! I just wanted to write and give a warm best wishes to all this holiday season! It has been laid on my heart to take some time off from writing and spend it resting close to the Master for the month. I thank God for each and every one of you and pray that you will enjoy the holiday season and find some together time with Jesus as well. Whether it's Christmas caroling, having friends and loved ones over for fellowship, or reaching out to whoever the Lord puts in your path this season, may the love of Christ be seen on your face and His peace and joy overflowing in your heart. ~Be blessed and be a blessing.

Remnant Taken Root and Bear Fruit

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is actually an update on a word the Lord gave me in November 2004, taken from Isaiah 37:30-32~ "This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit. Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this." ~The complete word (Isaiah 37:28-35) was given in response to Osama Bin Laden's videotaped speech in which he threatened the American public to not re-elect President Bush or else we would face terrorist activity on our soil. The Lord's response was the same now as it was then to King Sennacherib of the Assyrians: no such incidents would take place. We could be sure of that by a sign--the above verses 30-32.

Childlike

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Mark 10:13-16~ "People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them." ~~We work so hard at times to be in control, to have all the answers, and to seem very important to others. However, that thinking is contrary to receiving and entering the kingdom of God. Isn't it nice to know that the more we rely on Him for our every need and the more we simply believe the words He gently speaks to our hearts, the more the kingdom of God is received into our midst. Today's word comes from Ezekiel chapters 11-12, of which I will share selected verses~ "Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the Lord that faces east. The Lord said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city. They say, 'Will it not soon be time to build houses? Stay On the Narrow Path

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from 1 Samuel 28:3-8~ "Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land. The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all the Israelites and set up camp at Gilboa. When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets. Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." "There is one in Endor," they said. So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men when to the woman. Our Hope is in You

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes to us as a teaching; for if you've been discerning in your spirit that you ought to pray for your country, the word from the Lord today will guide you. It comes from Jeremiah 14:19-22: "Have You rejected Judah completely? Do You despise Zion? Why have You afflicted us so that we cannot be healed? We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror. O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness and the guilt of our fathers; we have indeed sinned against You. For the sake of Your Name do not despise us; do not dishonor Your glorious throne. Remember Your covenant with us and do not break it. Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Sweeping Winds of Change

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is a sobering one, and many may prefer not to read such directness from the Lord. But alas, the season we are entering is one of intensifying extremes, light getting brighter and darkness getting darker. And how does this occur? From a changing of circumstances, that's how. This morning I was praying and began to have a vision. I was seeing a sky full of dark storm clouds and thick white clouds. The wind was blowing so hard, I thought at first there must be spiritual fighting going on in the heavens. Instead, a voice said to me, "Judgment is coming like that which you've never seen before." Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Matthew 10:11-14~ "Whatever town or village you enter, serach for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting (blessing). If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone wll not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town." ~Recently the Lord had me walk out this scriptural lesson. When I first moved to Big Rapids in July, the Lord persisted that I bless the house of where I was to be staying, using Psalm 122 as a blessing. The owner of the house was a Christian, but she did not think her house needed to be blessed...she blessed it herself, she said. However, what she couldn't see in the spirit the Lord allowed me to see--her house needed to be cleansed and blessed! So, when she went out of town, I blessed the whole house except her room. When

Redeemed by the Lord

Greetings in the Lord! Today the Lord has put on my heart to share about the dream I had this morning. In this dream I was talking with a young woman at her fabulous house, beside her pool. Everything around us was amazingly wonderful--it was obvious that her family was VERY rich. In fact, I said to her, "No one is ever going to believe I was at the Hilton's house." However, our conversation quickly turned from cordial and light to serious and heartfelt, as she was concerned about her life and for her sister's, too. I began to tell her about Jesus. Just as I got started, her sister Paris walked up to us looking really sad and defeated--like she had been crying. I looked at her and said, "Jesus can take away the shame of your sins. Ya know, the shameful things we do while we're young." She looked happy to hear that and wanted to hear more with her sister about the Good News of Jesus Christ, so I told her. His Ultimate Good Purposes

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Jeremiah 40:2-4~ "When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, "The Lord your God decreed disaster for this place. And now the Lord has brought it about; He has done just what He said He would do. But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don't come. Dreams From the Master

Greetings in the Lord! So it seems for the past couple months the Lord has been sending me to minister to different groups on Thursday night...so when I woke up yesterday I wondered where the Lord would be sending me. As it turned out, my pastor called me at work and asked if I would be willing to lead Senior High Youth group at our church that night. I agreed and then began to ponder in the few hours beforehand what the Lord wanted me to share with that group. He led me to Job 33:14-18; Genesis 28:10-18; 32:22-32; 37:5-11; 40:8-23; and chapter 41. I will not write out all those scriptures in this writing, but give you an idea of what the Lord wanted me teach those young adults. First, the scripture in Job acknowledges that God does speak to us in our dreams--and a couple of the kids had some experiences to share about that. Young Hearts Following Him

Greetings in the Lord! For today's word the Lord has put on my heart to share a little event from today. Actually, probably not many in attendence understood the Spirit was moving, but it was. Tonight the Lord put on my heart to re-visit the student Bible study held on campus, comprised of mainly Black students. What a wonderful group they are--full of love for the Lord and hungry for His Word! For two weeks now the Lord has been giving me little tidbits of what's on His heart for them--things to teach, share, and encourage them with. And like I do, I say, "Yes Lord, I'm willing to tell them, just provide the opportunity." Tonight was the night. It started with the Lord putting a hunger in the leader's heart for prophecy, as the Word tells us that we should all desire to prophesy. Light Shines Brighter in Darkness

Greetings in the Lord! While the word the other day was so wonderful to share, today's word is a bit more somber. Please remember that those who love the Lord, have the Word and are faithful to His ways, we have the Light to see the way. However, we live in an incredibly idolatrous nation and darkened world, and today's word speaks to that situation. Best is Yet to Come

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Joel 2:13, 19, 24-25a, 27-28, 32~ "Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity....The Lord will reply to them: "I am sending you grain, new wine and oil, enough to satisfy you fully; never again will I make you an object of scorn to the nations...The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. No, there is no other Rock; I know not one." ~Tonight I went to a different student Bible study near campus. It was a group of about 12 or so, mostly Methodist kids. Being Methodist myself, I can say that these kids were a fair representation of what is going on in many of the Methodist churches these days--heavy on the socializing and light on scripture...even lighter on the Holy Spirit. But nonetheless, the Lord did send me there for His purposes. First, to give a prophetic word for one of His chosen ones out of the group that had a special calling for evangelism through music, and that she should move boldly through the doors the Lord has open for her. Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Psalm 73:22-28~ "I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before You. Yet I am always with You; You hold me by my right hand.
