Remnant Taken Root and Bear Fruit

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word is actually an update on a word the Lord gave me in November 2004, taken from Isaiah 37:30-32~
"This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit. Once more a remnant of the house of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."

~The complete word (Isaiah 37:28-35) was given in response to Osama Bin Laden's videotaped speech in which he threatened the American public to not re-elect President Bush or else we would face terrorist activity on our soil. The Lord's response was the same now as it was then to King Sennacherib of the Assyrians: no such incidents would take place. We could be sure of that by a sign--the above verses 30-32. Today the Lord was reminding me that we are beginning the third year of that word--praise Him for His mercy and goodness!

As I was re-reading the passage (Isaiah 37:28-35), I couldn't help but to wonder, "Who exactly is the 'remnant' and 'band of survivors' that 'takes root below and bear fruit above'?" The Lord led me to read Isaiah 4:2-6~
"In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel. Those who are left in Zion, who remained in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; He will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire. Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain."

Very interesting how the passage speaks of those who survive their "cleansing" and "judgment"; those who willfully follow the "cloud of smoke by day" and "glow of flaming fire by night;" these are the ones who have been tried and tested and have sought the comforting arms of the Master to shield them "from the storm and rain." They are the ones who have matured, i.e., taken root below and bear fruit above. These are the "remnant."

Contrary to this, the Lord led me to read 2 Peter 2:10a, which basically tells why some Christians would not be operating as a part of the 'remnant group': "This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority." Did you know that there are many Christians that say they want to hear from God but will reject those God sent to speak to them? Did you know that prophets are being raised up and sent out to give guidance and prophetic utterance to what the Lord is doing and wanting to do through His people...and yet, still many reject their words? Be careful beloveds, lest your freedom and gifts make you proud and mislead you. There is a storm blowing, a change in the winds that will blow away all that can be blown away and shakes all that can be shaken. Become a part of the remnant and seek refuge in His arms; follow the cloud by day and fire by night. He is leading us through the storm to take the Promised Land.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
