Have Reverence for the Lord, for He is Holy

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from 2 Samuel 6 and Daniel 5.  Both stories are a reminder for us to have reverence for the Lord Almighty.  For though God is patient and merciful, He is also Sovereign over all and is to be revered and honored.  The Lord plays no favorites either--His judgments can break out against believers and non-believers alike, as the passages will show.  The stories go like this. First, in Samuel 6 we read about King David wanting to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem.  He loaded it onto a cart like the Philistines had it, and began to make their way to Jerusalem.  Well, he was wrong already.  The Lord had prescribed how the Ark was to be moved, on the shoulders of Levites--not on some cart pulled by oxen.  Well, when the oxen stumbled, the Ark slid and a man familiar with the Ark (it had been kept in his family's tent) reached out to steady it.  His touch was forbidden by...

Word for 2016

Greetings in the Lord! Well it's almost Christmas, joy to the world!  I enjoy the holidays and this year was no exception.  I truly am thankful to God for all His blessings in 2015, even as challenging as it was at times.  But this past year, in those trying times, I felt a breakthrough.  Yes, a deeper reliance on God and comfort in the storm that I had not felt before.  Praise God for that!  I imagine that many of you can relate to what I am saying: the winds haven't really dissipated much, but there is a sort of calm knowing to it all--that our God is indeed in control. 2016 will be much more of the same that we saw in 2015, I'm sorry to say.  Yet, for the righteous who have been spending time with their God, the rocking of the boat isn't quite as unsettling as it used to be.  People may criticize and say we are just becoming numb to the world's often chaotic and violent events, but I beg to differ,  I discern by the Holy Spirit that th...

Clinton--the Ultimate Pollyanna

Greetings in the Lord! Yesterday in church our pastor gave a sermon based on the old movie, "Pollyanna."  Yes, he did.  He even showed a clip from the movie that was supposed to be a poignant message (eyebrow raised), "If you go looking for the bad in people, you will surely find it."  This is what we've been reduced to--modern conventional wisdom.  He did make a loose reference to Jesus by saying that Jesus promoted "good news" to people, i.e. any message other than a feel-good message need not apply.  Did I mention that he leaves our church in June--I wonder if he will torture us with movie "wisdom" and adages until he's gone? Defeated and Vexed

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Psalm 112.  The message to us is simple--we will be blessed when we choose to love the Lord, live a righteous life, and pursue justice.  God loves justice and righteousness, and we can't please the Lord without having an active faith in Him. Psalm 112 tells us that when we live an upright life, generous to all in need and honest in our dealings with people, we can expect an unforgettable legacy, honor and provision, security, and courage. "Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man....Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.  He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord....He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn (of authority) will be lifted high in honor." Perfect Love Casts Out All Fear

Greetings in the Lord! It's amazing to see how many riots and violent protests are happening all around the world right now.  In Venezuela, Ukraine, Thailand, even in France--over the potential building of an airport, of all things.  And as I was reading about these and other events, I also was curious to compare what various news outlets had to say about the happenings.  Most news sources give the same major details, but usually from slightly different viewpoints with varying degrees of elaboration.  However, there are a growing number of conspiracy theorists out there.  They never fail to offer really "interesting" twists and bits of information, but it always seems like I'm entering a fog when I hear what they have to say.  It makes me nervous (fearful) in my spirit, really, and so I naturally will back away and hear what the Lord has to say about them and all the major news events going on these days.  H...

Separate the Remnant from Babylon

Greetings in the Lord! It's been awhile since I've gotten these words from Scripture...from 2005-2007 or so, give or take.  They are from Isaiah 46-47 and Jeremiah 51.  If anyone has ever read these passages they will recall that both prophets are decreeing the destruction of Babylon and her idols, and calling for Israel to separate herself from those people's ways to avoid partaking in their coming disaster.  At that time, the Lord was having me preach and teach from those Scriptures that major trouble (read--His correction) was on the horizon for the United States.  Over the course of those years I gave prophetic words about the coming storms that would hit the US: hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters, the financial crisis, the coming election of ungodly leadership to lead us astray, and the rise of our enemies against us.  While those were deemed the most newsworthy items, the most important words w...

Swarms will come--take shelter in the Lord

Greetings in the Lord! This week I've had several dreams of significance, but will share with you the one from this morning and the passage of Scripture the Lord gave to help discern its meaning. In my dream, I was visiting a house situated on top of large, rolling hills.  The hills were quite large and it was surrounded by wonderful fields of mountain grass--just like in the Sound of Music (Europe).  However, in the vicinity of this house was beautiful, thick Kentucky blue grass--obviously, the owners of the house had planted their own stock of grass and took good care of it. At the next part of the dream I went outside and saw off in the distance a caravan of cars tearing up and down the rolling hillsides.  They were making quite a ruckus and intentionally not caring about whose lawns or fields they were destroying.  There was a giant red truck carrying many men and one silver Cherokee type of vehicle with more men in it; the other cars were regular passenger...
