All Business Is God's Business

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word is from Ecclesiastes 2:21-26 and Proverbs 13:22~
"For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless. A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner He gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God."

"A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous."

~Have you ever considered that it will be the sinner's lot to store up wealth for the righteous? They are not even guaranteed to enjoy their work, but rather, the Lord gives satisfaction of his work to those that please Him. Since we work five, sometimes six days a week, it really makes sense to do all our work as unto the Lord. Yep, right there in the workplace, to be a shining light right there on the job. Integrity, faithfulness, and work ethic would be rewarded with "eat and drink and satisfaction," even an inheritance for us to hand down to future generations. No better example of today's word can be seen than in family businesses that have weathered economic cycles and changes and still maintain godly values in their company's beliefs and procedures. I'm not sure who this message is for today, as I discern it will speak to someone in particular, but for the rest of us it is a great reminder to do all things as unto the Lord. Let your work be both an example of your faithfulness to the Lord and a blessing to future generations. Let's join together in prayer and raise up to the Lord this day our country's businesses and work force; that we will see a renewing of His presence in our entire business sector; that godly behaviors on the job will be encouraged and rewarded by the Lord with His promise of "eat, drink, and satisfaction" in the work that we do as unto Him; and lastly, that we would leave behind worldly ambitions that lead us down crooked paths and seek instead to follow the straight and narrow road to true contentment and knowledge of who we are in Christ, as we work from day to day.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
