Intercession: In It For the Long Haul
Greetings in the Lord!
Today's word comes from Isaiah chapter 16, of which I will share selected verses~
"Send lambs as tribute to the ruler of the land, from Sela, across the desert, to the mount of the Daughter of Zion. Like fluttering birds pushed from the nest, so are the women of Moab at the fords of the Arnon. Give us counsel, render a decision...Hide the fugitives, do not betray the refugees. Let the Moabite fugitives stay with you; be their shelter from the destroyer...We have heard of Moab's pride--her overweening pride and conceit, her pride and her insolence--but her boasts are empty....The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards;...My heart laments for Moab like a harp, my inmost being for Kir Hareseth. When Moab appears at her high place, she only wears herself out; when she goes to her shrine to pray, it is to no avail. This is the word the Lord has already spoken concerning Moab..."Within three years, as a servant bound by contract would count them, Moab's splendor and all her many people will be despised, and her survivors will be very few and feeble."
~This is a different sort of word for today...one that I'm not exactly sure how it will pertain to some of you, but since I am only the messenger, here goes! At the beginning of the Jewish New Year two years ago (began Oct. 2004), the Lord began to fill me with words of guidance for people that were racing down spiritually perilous roads away from Him--in essence, it began a year of issuing warnings to people that were in bondage to pride (just as it mentions in verse 6). Some warnings were a matter of life and death, and other words were about the life and death of someone they were/would be responsible for. In all cases, these prophetic words from the Lord were not going to be met with smiles and thanks, but rather would be met with mockery and smite. I believe that time period was one of judgements being declared in general---issued for their ultimate return to the arms of our loving Father.
Today's word is an update on those people (and others, as maybe you can think of other people the Lord had put on your heart to pray/intercede for during the same time period.) At any rate, their strongholds are being torn down, slowly, as discomfort and a shifting is taking place in their lives. They are going through a period of severe "drought" and a thirst for joy and peace is setting in like never before. And just as the prophet laments for them in the passage, so too, my heart is burdened with seeing and knowing about their painful humbling process. Verse 5 consoles us a bit, as we see a foreshadowing of His throne being acknowledged in their lives, but with verses 13-14 we understand that it is a 3-year humbling process. Fellow intercessors, join in me in lifting up those that are in their humbling process. We will continue to lift them up to the Lord in love and with petitions of mercy; and, that the Lord will completely remove all the dross and buffer them till they shine like the sons and daughters of light that they are. In Jesus' name we pray~Amen.
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
