Action Louder Than Words

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Ezekiel 33:30-33:
"As for you, son of man, your countrymen are talking together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, saying to each other, 'Come and hear the message that has come from the Lord.' My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put it into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. When all this comes true--and it surely will--then they will know that a prophet has been among them."

~Beloveds, there are some of you who are refusing to listen to the Lord's counsel and are planning events, activities, etc. out of the selfish ambition of your own hearts. Woe to you! Earlier, in Ezekiel 33:28 the Lord says, "I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end, and the mountains of Israel will become desolate so that no one will cross them." What does that mean? The planned event/activity will be fruitless, a waste of money, and bring shame and reproach on those who carried it out. All this will happen because of the stubbornness of your hearts. You listened politely, but ultimately rejected those sent by God who were meant to counsel, guide, and teach you; then, you went your own way. "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishent to your bones." (Proverbs 3:7-8).
~Amen and amen.
