Hot Off the Press

Greetings in the Lord!

Yesterday the Lord had me buy a newspaper and read what was going on currently in the Philippines...the newspaper read more like a long police report! The headlines were filled with a supposed assination plot on the Philippine president and other government officials. The pages continued with stories of huge amounts stolen goods found by Custom's agents, armed robberies, other politically-motivated violence, business corruption, and the like. I was OK until I read the article about the on-going trial for the murder of an anti-corruption activitist. She was killed in March of 2005 for her outspoken viewpoints and push for anti-corruption legislation. It was about then that I earnestly prayed to the Lord, "Why have you sent me here to preach such a bold message against corruption, violence, and greed to Manila's leading police, business, city, and governmental officials? You gave me the word to share with them that they were to support their President, and now I read that she has enemies surrounding her, in every sector and industry, that want to kill her?! Lord, protect my life!"

Today's word is the response from the Lord taken from Habakkuk 2:6b-20: (selected verses)
"'Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion!...Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you. For you have shed man's blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.
Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the cluches of ruin! You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life. The stones of the wall will cry out, and the beams of the woodwork will echo it.
Woe to him who builds a city by bloodshed and establishes a town by crime!...
Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies. You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and be exposed! The cup from the Lord's right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory."

~While I was receiving the above verses, the Lord gave me a vision of an earthquake shaking a cliffside where a beautiful house sat overlooking the sea. As the earth shook, I saw people from the house run and dive down into the sea, with the house crumbling and falling in after them. Surely the intention of the Lord is to shake the very foundations upon which the corrupt and wicked sit arrogantly upon. Later, the verses 18-20 speak of idolatry, as that is the root of the sin. During this trip the Lord taught me the strong connection between idolatry and the prevalent violence and corruption that goes on here in the Philippines, but I will write more on that on another day. Until later,
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
