A Highway for the Remnant

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Isaiah 11:1-16)

V.1-3)"A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord--and he will delight in the fear of the Lord."

V.10-11) "In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. In that day the Lord will reach out His hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of His people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea."

V. 15-16) "The Lord will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind He will sweep His hand over the Euphrates River. he will break it up into seven streams so that men can cross over in sandals. There will be a highway for the remnant of His people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt."

~I discern today's word is referring to the "remnant" of God's people that that will be able to go back to their homelands (where they could not do so easily before) as a result of all the turmoil going on in the places where they currently live. And though that community of believers was severely restricted, the Lord has blessed them abundantly in their captivity and they will return full of the Holy Spirit declaring God's justice and goodness to the nations of the earth.

The verses today speak specifically of Syria, but I also discern that "captives" from other countries will also be able to return to their homelands as well. This marks a period of oppression for God's people coming to an end, with their "exodus" to their homelands, as a result of trouble coming to their oppressors. In fact, though they may hate to release God's people, they will have no choice but to escort them out with banners and to allow them to walk out peacefully.

Let the Lord's will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
