Swept Away, by the Broom of God
Greetings in the Lord! The past several weeks I've been led to read from Isaiah chapter 14. It is a hopeful message to those that love the Lord, that though they have been oppressed harshly by the "oppressor", God is turning the tables on the situation. "The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land....Nations will take them and bring them to their own place." Isaiah 14:1-2. However, the majority of the chapter does not highlight the restoration and deliverance of Israel, but rather, talks about the "oppressor" and of their coming defeat. "How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended! The Lord has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers, which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression."
