Victory--The Truth Will Set You Free

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's words come from 2 Samuel 8 and Isaiah 11.  You know, I never cease to be amazed at how the Holy Spirit will lead me to read two very different passages of Scripture to make a point about something, or to emphasize the importance of a word to me if I really didn't 'get it' the first time around! ha  Yeah, I'm like every other Christian that way, sometimes it takes me a while, too, to know what God is saying.

Anyway, 2 Samuel 8 is a great passage talking about all of the victories David had over his enemies--the Philistines, the Ammonites, the Arameans, the Moabites, the Edomites, the Amalekites, and more that are not even mentioned in this chapter, like all of his own personal enemies--the house of Saul and his associates.  David had spent the better part of his young through adult life in battle against enemies and now the Bible talks about victory; subduing his enemies, taking plunder and increasing the kingdom under his rule.  He is a famous and respected king over the land, "doing what was just and right for all his people."  Amen.

The best part about that passage for me is this statement--which is said twice for emphasis:
"The Lord gave David victory everywhere he went." 2 Samuel 6, 14.

You see, I had somehow not fully appreciated that prophetic word the first time I read it in Isaiah 11.  Maybe it's because in the verses of Isaiah 11 I focused more on the attributes of our Messiah King--"The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord...He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.  He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.  Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist."
Isaiah 11:2-5.
But later in verses 10-16 it goes on to talk about the majestic rule of our Messiah King over Israel and the rest of the nations of the earth; He will bring reconciliation and restoration to the scattered people of God, and they will subdue their enemies, making them their subjects.  This happens by the power of the Holy Spirit in us, working His wisdom and righteousness in and through us--not by our strength, intellect, or by brutality.  No, way, we are over comers by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.  That is why verse four says:
"He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked."

This year into next the Lord will raise up an army of truth-tellers!  They will be full of the "Spirit of the Lord" and the God-truths they teach will dismantle strongholds on nations, cities, industries, wherever and whatever they have been anointed to overcome--they will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.  Praise God!  Jesus came to set the captives free, and His truth will do just that--sweet victory!
There are many verses in the Bible that say 'the wisdom of the wise man can defeat an army'--and you will see just that--an army of darkness defeated by the Light of Jesus, for "His Word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path."

Today's word is one of victory this season for those who will expose the lies of the enemy this season, who will let the Light of Christ shine brightly for the ones who are lost in the darkness.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
