Rejoice Over the Repentant

Greetings in the Lord!

It is good to be back in the saddle again and I have much to share from my trip to Iceland and Germany. However, having said that, I will write on the things I experienced and learned as the Lord directs for me to share, as any other way would be out of step with the daily words He provides for us to hear.

Today's word comes from Deuteronomy 5:4-5:
"The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. (At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.)"

How many people are afraid to hear from the Lord and draw close because of His "fire"? The Israelites were all too aware of their unworthiness and sin and asked Moses to be a mediator for them, a buffer, so that they stood aloof from the Lord while only Moses drew near. Such is the case with many individuals. They know of the Lord, even have experienced some special contact with Him ("The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain."), yet they choose to turn away from Him out of fear.

Such was the case on my trip. Out of everyone I was sent to minister to, there were two specific individuals the Lord sent me to to encourage them to draw near to the Lord in repentance and humility...but both refused Him hard-heartedly out of fear, for they were more comfortable living their lives in the dark, so to speak. And like the Israelites, the Lord valued them so much that He had made a covenant with them out of love, they only had to accept it and live in good faith within that covenant (the new covenant of Jesus Christ).

This experience helped me to understand better the parable of the one shepard who left his 99 sheep to search for 1 lost one, and then rejoiced immensely when he found it (Luke 15). True, heart-felt repentance is a spiritual mystery---and the gift of grace, Oh, so divine!

Be blessed and be a blessing~
