No More Spending Tomorrow's Money Today

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word again comes from Zechariah chapter 1, which begins with a word by the prophet Zechariah for the people to return to the Lord.
"The Lord was very angry with your forefathers. Therefore tell the people: "This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the Lord Almighty, 'and I will return to you.'...Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.' But they would not listen or pay attention to Me, declares the Lord....Then they repented and said, 'The Lord Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as He determined to do.' "
(Zechariah 1:2-6)

The passage goes on to talk about Zechariah having a series of visions, the first being one of an angel riding a red horse with other horses of red, white and brown. They had been riding all over the earth and reported, "We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace." Verse 11.

The angel was reporting that the enemies of Israel were basically happy and content with the current trials and oppression of Israel. They felt secure in their assumed eventual superority over Israel....but the passage goes on to say that God was jealous for Israel and was going to lay low those smug enemies of Israel and return prosperity to Israel because He loves them and they repented of the ways of their forefathers.

This week, President Ahmadinejad of Iran articulated this smug position in so many words as he spoke in a speech to the United Nations Assembly saying: "Today the Zionist regime is on a definite slope to collapse," he said. The Anti-Defamation League released a statement saying the Iranian leader showed he "is deeply infected with anti-Semitism" and displayed "the true threat the Iranian regime poses to Israel, the United States and the West." Ahmadinejad pointed to what he said are signs of hope, saying an increasing number of nations are turning their backs on "the bullying powers" and seeking to establish new relations.

Oh, but he is not familiar with the jealousy of God! How He holds us as the apple of His eye! The word of the Lord today is a call to repent, to prayerfully intercede on behalf of America to return to godliness, especially in the financial realm--because the Lord wants to restore us as a nation! The Lord desires that our hearts and voices be crying out for more of His presence, to lay down our earthly crowns and exalt His name above all else! "In God We Trust," it says on our currency, so let's pray that America will once again be good stewards of our resources and finances and trust in Him to restructure our economic system to be in alignment with HIM.

One report on the radio said that the current Wall Street market crisis will have a "restructuring" effect on how they've done business there for a long time. Namely, "investment banking" will not be able to have the HUGE (million-dollar) payouts that they've had in the past because the leaders in this industry will not be allowed to trade in speculative money like they have in the past. In essence, the Lord's shaking of Wall Street will hit the greediest sectors first, then will go for the deceitful banking practices that had targeted unsuspecting and overly ambitious would-be home owners. The Lord does not want this nation to live on debt, spending tomorrow's money (speculative money) today.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
