I Have Faith

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word is from 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2:
"Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith."

Have you ever had a conversation with a non-believer and they say, "I have faith, just not in God," or something along those lines. I am surprised at how often I have heard that! Actually, the definition of faith also includes the characteristics of trust and loyalty, so faith is more like a relationship between beings rather than a trust in a belief system, laws of nature, or inanimate objects. So, what they mean to say is that they have put their trust in something or many things other than God. These misplaced trusts are what they rely on instead of the Lord. The Bible refers to those misplaced trusts as "strongholds," similar to fortresses. Now you can see the big difference between having faith in the Sovereign Lord and having personal "strongholds" in which we trust to try to defend and define ourselves.

My Mouth Will Tell

Greetings in the Lord! As I was praying and asking the Lord about the word to give for today, He put on my heart to begin to share with you all the "God moments" that will be happening while I am in the Philippines ministering this month....and have already have begun! Last week, there were two such instances, but I will share only one for time's sake. The first one happened after I was done playing basketball at Iron Mt. high school. On the way out the door, I saw the janitor, and we made small talk as usual. However, on that day he asked me where I was going to next and that opened a door to tell him about the Philippines, and then on to witnessing about Christ to him. He was overjoyed! Good Fruit From Repentence

Greetings in the Lord! Today's verse comes from Luke 3:7-9: "John (the Baptist) said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, 'You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentence. And do not begin to say to yourselves, "We have Abraham as our father." For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." Today's word comes from 1 Samuel 12:19-25: "The people all said to Samuel, "Pray to the Lord your God for your servants so that we will not die, for we have added to all our other sins the evil of asking for a king." "Do not be afraid," Samuel replied. "You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. Do not turn away after useless idols. Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Psalm 1: "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
