Athaliah Rising Up? But Restoration Promised

Greetings in the Lord~

In the summer of 2019, the Lord gave me a word from 2 Chronicles 22-23, a story about Queen Athaliah.  At the time I got the word, I did a vlog about it on Youtube [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpyslP6ELTA] and discussed what I felt the Lord was saying at that time, namely, that there was a rising up of an Athaliah spirit, a fierce female demonic spirit in our government that would cause much havoc as it pushed a socialist agenda that was not popular with most Americans.  Athaliah was the daughter of Queen Jezebel, but did not use seduction and deception like her mother.  Rather, she was brutal and direct in her attacks.  I saw this most clearly with the new Representative members of Congress, "The Five."

The only issue was, and I did not elaborate on this at the time, was that I pondered if there was an actual "Athaliah" to rise up in our country, similar to the Biblical story.  If so, then that would mean that we would have a female president, but only by violence and deception.  As the story goes, she took the throne by opportunity and force after her king husband and son both passed away; her son ruled only one year.  When she took power, she killed off all the rest of the legit royal family and ruled Judah, pushing her corrupt pagan ideas.  However, in the seventh year of her reign, the head priest, Jehoiada, made a secret pact with five military commanders to overthrow her and make her grandson, Joash, a legit heir to the throne, king of Judah.  They were successful and had the full support of the elders of Judah.

Hmmm, interesting, huh?  Scripture even tells us that she yells, "Treason! Treason!" when they were anointing him king, but funnily enough, all her actions were treason!  She was by all accounts, an illegitimate heir to the throne who seized power by force and intrigue. And naturally, on the day she was overthrown, the people rejoiced!  Let this story sink in and pray about it.

Meanwhile, the Lord also speaks to us today from Jeremiah 31.  This is a passage about God promising to restore Israel after its ordeal and discipline and return to Him.  It is a word to stir up hope for better times, a promise that God was indeed going to rebuild Israel and cause them to prosper again, but this time with His instructions in their hearts.  Those that learn from and grow from the ordeal, repenting of past sinful ways and drawing near to God for blessings and guidance, would prosper, while those that persisted in rebellion would be swept away.

"Is not Israel my son, My darling child?" says the Lord.  "I often have to punish him, but I still love him.  That's why I long for him and surely will have mercy on him." Jeremiah 31:20

"In the past I deliberately uprooted and tore down this nation.  I overthrew it, destroyed it, and brought disaster upon it.  But in the future I will just as deliberately plant it and build it up.  I, the Lord, have spoken!"  Jeremiah 31:28

"The day is coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. This covenant will not be like the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt.  They broke that covenant, though I loved them as a husband loves his wife," says the Lord.  "But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days," says the Lord.  "I will put My instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts.  I will be their God, and they will be My people...And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins."  Jeremiah 31:31-34.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
