The "Roseannes" Among Us

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from two places in Exodus and talks about the same event--the deliverance of Israel from slavery in Egypt.  In Exodus 3, God tells Moses to go to Pharaoh to tell him to let the people go---but of course he won't---so God will perform mighty miracles to compel him to do so.  In Exodus 11, God tells Moses about the last plague He is sending to Egypt---death of their firstborn, and this will be the final act of God that will cause Pharaoh to tell them to leave Egypt.  It's an interesting story, and overall, we can learn that some people are so bent on wickedness and oppressing others that only when they experience grief from death of a loved one--and that as a direct result of their own actions, will they begin to change their behavior.  Still, we know that his grief was temporary and that Pharaoh ended up pursuing Israel out in the desert which led to his own death.  Such is the spirit of witchcraft anyway; anyone who engages with it draws near to death.

However, this word does not focus on that story or the principles we can learn from it, but rather, highlights a quick directive given in both chapters telling Israel to ask the Egyptians for articles of gold and silver when they are told to leave Egypt by Pharaoh.  God promises that the Egyptians will respond favorably, thereby effectively plundering the Egyptians of their wealth as Israel departs.  How quickly God turned the tables!  Four hundred years of slavery vanishes and wealth flows into their laps---instantaneous restitution paid. Today's word is about that.

We are entering a period of time where people who have been in "slavery" and oppressed by others (or in bondage from the fruit of their own bad actions) will be set free and restitution made to them.  How cool is that?  The wealth that flows back to them can then be used to continue the work of the Lord in their lives, just like how Israel used the gold articles to make the Tabernacle in the desert.  It is an exciting time and I discern that some of this will be very publicly done.  Praise God for His goodness and faithfulness--He alone lifts the poor and needy from the ash heap and sets the prisoners free.

On a side note, sometimes even when we create our own bondage and messes, the Lord still gives us restitution.  He does this because He loves us and He knows when our ordeal has done its perfect work in us and when its time to be set free.  Along those lines, I do discern that Roseanne Barr will also be restored to a better place in her life and that the Lord will once again give her a public platform to share humor, but this time with a healing anointing.  I keep discerning the Proverb about how laughter is a good medicine to heal the heart, and she will be released to help bring healing to the heartland of America.  Praise God who alone is able to bring true divine healing and restoration from such a catastrophic mess (of her own making)!  Right now there is so much "unintended" hatred flying about in the United States, but her story is our story, too.  And when we are set free from our captivity (of our own making?) it will highlight God's amazing grace to the truly repentant ones.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
