Trample the Great Lion and Serpent

Greetings in the Lord!

Today's word comes from Luke 12:29-36~

"As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.....for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here."

"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you."

~In these verses we see that Jesus is basically telling the people, "Quit asking me to shine a brighter light for you. Take off your sunglasses! (or blinders, even) My light of Truth is shining bright for all to see."

Last Saturday at a prayer group, the Lord gave me a vision of thick, stormy clouds and raging waves on an ocean---but there was a bright ray of light shining through the clouds. I knew that it was symbolic of His salvation, that He was there in the middle of the storm. Then, I saw Jesus's feet standing on the beach, just like the "Footprints in the Sand" poem. Again, it seemed as if He was saying, "I will carry you through." We prayed that the Lord would lift up anyone who was going through a 'stormy' time, not knowing that a huge storm would in fact hit the East Coast the next day and many people would be crying out to the Lord for help.

That was a sign. The Lord had given us the word beforehand so we could lift up that situation before it hit. It was also a sign that God is always in control and tells his servants beforehand. I praise and thank Him for letting us intercede on behalf of His people.

But did you know that sometimes even when the Lord shows Himself mighty and All-Knowing that there will be people to forget and ask for another sign? It's as if they say, "Make it a little bit brighter next time, would ya?" But Jesus tells us His Truth is plainly seen, not hidden....so why do people persist in asking for more signs? Blinders. We must remove our blinders so "the light within us in not darkness."

Therefore, it is wisdom to check for blinders when we hear a prophetic word that doesn't tickle our ears and might even be a bit upsetting. Pray to the Holy Spirit and LISTEN. All too often I hear Christians say things like, "I don't accept that word" and they quickly run the risk of offending the Spirit who gave the servant of the Lord the word to give. In their pride they reject the word and give a huge foothold to the enemy to wreak havoc in their lives. "For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry." (1 Samuel 15:23)

At the moment I have been sent to a church that has been infiltrated by members of an occult. Twice in the past 3 weeks thay have sent members to speak curses over the church members and release unclean spirits during the service. Why are they there? Obviously the congregation loves the Lord and they are seen as a threat to the enemy. But the real question is HOW are they there? Will not the angels of the Lord keep them protected? Well, the problem lies in this: the pastor has been given a word to repent of his arrogance and self-promotion, but is unwilling to accept the word. Therefore, he is in reality walking side by side spiritually with these occult members, as shown by the verse in 1 Samuel 15:23 ("For rebellion is the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.") and are in agreement spiritually: "Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" (Amos 3:3)

As many of you may recall, I spent a season in Michigan ministering the Lord's words to a congregation that fell into the same predicament.....only that by the time the Lord had sent me there, it was to decree that the pastor would be uprooted from his position in the assembly. Before I had gotten there, the Lord had sent other prophets to give words of correction only to be met with the same rebelliousness and arrogance by the pastor. He was obstinate and after many opportunities to repent, the Lord had decreed that he not be the pastor there anymore.

Repentance ushers in grace and salvation from the Lord. God delights to save us! That's why He sent Jesus, right?!
"If you make the Most High your dwelling--even the Lord, who is my refuge--then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;...You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent." (Psalm 91:9-11,13)
