No More Cannibals, By His Mercy
Greetings in the Lord!
If you've read any of the words on this blog for even a minute one thing would be obvious--the Lord does not use me like the marshmallow, feel-good prophets common in the United States. It's interesting too, that many of the Old Testament prophets in the Bible were also not typical of that crowd. Why? The prophet Jeremiah says its because feel-good words of peace can only be considered true if they come true, (paraphrase). And that most of the prophets of old issued warnings and strong rebukes against sin, that is why God had called them in the first place--to get His people back on track. However, in today's American Church, many "prophets" just share words of encouragement because they know that no one supports financially those who tell it like it is.
Interestingly, much of this holds true for the secular arena as well. The American culture is obsessed with all things feel-good, look-good, and sound-good, too. Which is how Obama got elected in the first place, I might add. He came in with a message of peace and prosperity when many Americans could not stomach going to war; even standing on godly principles was too much effort for them. He is a classic case of a "false prophet" promising lies of peace and prosperity--to ultimately push a godless agenda that caters to the flesh and earthly desires: gay marriage, legalizing drugs, conceding to the enemies that helped to get him elected--even paying them huge sums of money, downsizing our military, and making political agreements that will allow them to produce nuclear arms. This is an anti-Christ agenda for certain. All of this is in addition to the corruption, secret deals and rewards for loyalty to his demonic agenda, international spying, unaccounted for deaths of his adversaries, and a complete destabilization of our economy, educational, and social systems. Truly, our nation has suffered at the hands of a most evil regime for eight years, and with Hillary, they will stay the course. It's interesting, then, that the Lord had to do the same thing that He did with other fiery prophets of old, He brought them in from outside the system, from picking fruit and tending sheep and whatever else to speak His words of judgment to a corrupt and evil leadership...enter Trump, stage left.
Today's word is from Micah 3, and it is a strong rebuke to this leadership and to the false voices that support and condone its corruption. The passage starts with an example of how these leaders are like cannibals--eating the flesh of the people they have been entrusted to serve and lead. The Lord goes on to say that He is decreeing utter darkness, disaster, and disgrace to them, period. On the day of their distress, He won't even listen to them cry out.
"Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right; who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness. Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the Lord and say, 'Is not the Lord among us? No disaster will come upon us.' Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets." Micah 3:9-12.
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin. Micah 3:8
This is the year of the Sword of the Lord--let His words and strong hand begin with the people of God, in a nation established by His hand.
