Brink of a New Season

Greetings in the Lord!

It has been a little while since I've received so many strong messages for the Americans of the United States--messages of coming captivity and disaster because of their continued idolatry, rebellion against God, and unwillingness to change their evil ways. They are on the cusp of a new season of judgment from the Lord, a disciplining, so to speak.

Today's word is taken from Jeremiah 13 and chapters 5-6, which is quite to the point:

"Like cages full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; they have become rich and powerful and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not plead the case of the fatherless to win it, they do not defend the rights of the poor."

"Should I not punish them for this?" declares the Lord. "Should I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this? A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land: The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and My people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?" Jeremiah 5:27-31.

The interesting thing to realize about these passages is that Jeremiah is preaching to Judah and Jerusalem, i.e. the Church. (The northern kingdom of Israel had already gone into exile for their idolatry as they had long stopped going to Jerusalem to worship as a whole.) So we can understand that the Lord is referencing the United States as a "Christian" nation and calling us into account for our supposed relationship with Him. We are obligated to do our part: revere God and His ways, love Him first and foremost, and remain in Him...otherwise we will be straying from His hedge of protection and blessing.

"Their houses will be turned over to others, together with their fields and their wives, when I stretch out My hand against those who live in the land," declares the Lord...."Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.' I appointed watchmen over you and said, 'Listen to the sound of the trumpet!' But you said, 'We will not listen.'"

"Therefore hear, O nations; observe, O witnesses, what will happen to them....I AM bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to My words and have rejected My law....Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me." Therefore this is what the Lord says: "I will put obstacles before this people. Fathers and sons alike will stumble over them; neighbors and friends will perish." Jeremiah 6:12, 16-21.

Let us hear the word of the Lord today and pray for the United States, especially for American Christians, as they enter a season of heated refinement and discipline from the Lord. The hope always is that through the oncoming struggles they will lay down pride, idols, and self-will and begin to walk in humility and faithfulness before God. "Mercy triumphs wrath," it is written, but that does not mean the trials of judgement won't come--it means that God has a good plan after it all is said and done. Let us rejoice in His infinite wisdom and yield to His will for our lives.

~Be blessed and be a blessing.
