Commercial Giant About to Fall
Greetings in the Lord~
Today's prophetic word comes from Ezekiel 27 & 28, with both chapters basically decreeing a word of judgment against the city and ruler of Tyre, and indirectly, the demonic spirit that has been influencing and working through Tyre's ruler behind the scenes.
It opens with a beautiful allegory of the city of Tyre being like this amazing and formidable mercantile ship, crewed with the most skilled mariners and filled with a spectrum of cargo to ship all throughout the furthest reaches of that time. Tyre was the spectacular door to the commercial world, whose harbor drew the fineries of the whole land in and out to it's hungry clients, who couldn't wait to become rich in the trading or popular with showing off the luxuries they purchased. But more than luxuries--everything passed through it's docks, from food, to riches, to cloth and even people! Yes, even slaves were shipped all throughout the land from this port.
Well, spoiler alert, the prophet was decreeing a sinking of that ship! Yes, it would fall to the bottom of the sea and a great lament would ensue for the city and loss of commerce for a time. It would be a major disruption to economic trade, but on the heels of their lament, great fear would come upon the traders and city as they realized the truth of the matter--no riches or fineries could save them, and their greed was exposed for the futility it was. So much effort and conceit for so little in return, ultimately.
At that point, the next chapter focuses it's decree to the ruler of Tyre, who was so exceedingly prideful of his wealth, business savvy, and commercial empire, that he thought himself a god! Well, true to form, no Caesar-worship goes unpunished. God decrees that this ruler would be laid in the dust at the hands of foreigners like any mere mortal; this ruler is not divine or eternal. In fact, his untimely death would be yet another sign to all of those greedy traders who sought to be just like him that wealth without God equals nothing--no protection, no security, and no eternal life. These chapters are not a condemnation against the wealth these folks acquired, but rather, the pride and corruption that resulted from their wealth.
The last part of chapter 28 is quite interesting, as it indirectly addresses the fall of the demonic spirit or principality that was working behind the scenes through this ruler. God's judgment will extend to the corrupt spirit that was manifesting through this ruler, to break off the negative spiritual influence it had over the city and it's traders. I believe it hints at a new mindset, a kind of reset from the greed mentality and avarice that was consuming the traders and people.
That is the prophetic word for today: a major leader will fall because of the pride of their wealth, and a disruption of trade and lament will follow. But in the spirit realm, God's judgment will break the spirit of avarice off the people, and this disruption will give them a period of clarity and time for a reality check of what is truly important in life. Riches, without a faith in God is meaningless; wealth, without a trust and devotion to our Creator leaves our souls empty and our hearts prideful for nothing. Overall, it can be said that this global time of grace and reset is about to happen to a commercial giant for the returning of the hearts back to the Lord. Amen and amen!
~Be blessed and be a blessing.
