Farming to hit the target

Greetings in the Lord! This summer my father asked me to help him with the planting of his garden since he was recuperating from surgery.  I groaned.  "Ah, come on Dad, gardening's not my thing.  It's your thing.  Besides, I'm crippled too, I hurt my knee." "But if we don't do it now, it will be too late.  The growing season is short enough as it is."  Feeling like the ungrateful daughter, I relented.  "OK, I'll plant beans; you can cover them over." So, together we started planting the green beans.  I carefully dropped them into the shallow furrow, spacing them out just right and not clumping the seeds together.  Still, no matter how careful I was some of the seeds rolled next to rocks in the soil or clumped together anyway, and I started to calculate just how fruitful or not this planting would be.  Really dry, somewhat rocky soil, middle of hot July, rabbits, birds and bugs...maybe not so many beans this year. Hmm, farming w

Pleasant Field Trampled

Greetings in the Lord! This morning I had a dream from the Lord.   In it I was walking along talking with someone who was leading animals across an open, pretty green field.   As we walked I noticed that we were following a path of trampled-down, crushed grass and saw that the field was being ruined by all the foot traffic across it.   I felt bad about ruining the pretty grassy field some more.   The shepherd said to me, “Oh, don’t worry about it.   This is how we do it.” When I awoke I prayed for discernment and was led to read Jeremiah 12:7-12: “I will give the one I love into the hands of her enemies…Has not My inheritance become to me like a speckled bird of prey that the other birds of prey surround and attack?   Go and gather all the wild beasts; bring them to devour.” “Many shepherds will ruin My vineyard and trample down My field; they will turn My pleasant field into a desolate wasteland.   It will be made a wasteland, parched and desolate before Me; the whol

Shebna Voted Out

Greetings in the Lord! This is today's word, taken from Isaiah 22:15-24: This is what the Lord, the Lord Almighty says: Go, say to this steward, to Shebna, who is in charge of the palace: "What are you doing here and who gave you permission to cut out a grave for yourself here, hewing your grave on the height and chiseling your resting place in the rock?"  "Beware, the Lord is about to take firm hold of you and hurl you away, O you mighty man.  He will roll you up tightly like a ball and throw you into a large country.  There you will die and there your splendid chariots will remain--you disgrace to your master's house!" "I will depose you from your office, and you will be ousted from your position." "In that day I will summon My servant Eliakim son of Hilkiah.  I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him.  He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of

Wind or Windstorm?

Greetings in the Lord! What happens when the leadership in a land becomes greedy, even exceedingly greedy, for gain?  When they use every means at their disposal to steal from the people they should be guiding with good judgments?  Even more, when those appointed by the Lord to speak against this injustice refuse to speak out and instead collaborate with these leaders, also demanding payment and kickbacks for their services, then top it all off by using their public positions to say, "Peace and prosperity are in store for the land under this leadership!"  What happens then? Well, today's word is from the book of Micah, chapter 3, where the prophet was speaking out against the leadership of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and their cohorts for just this type of situation.  Samaria and all of the northern kingdom was an apostate nation at that point, living much as the surrounding pagan nations did: corrupt, idolatrous, and wicked.  They did not want to hear the word of

Baby Growing Fast

Baby Growing Fast Greetings in the Lord! Today I had a vision while praying for the United States.  As I sat with my head bowed and the palms of my hands outstretched in front of me, the whole United States appeared between my hands, nestled there, as if it were a baby about ready to be rocked.  I realized the Lord was looking down from His throne and desired to rock us like a baby---gently, cooing as He rocked us, shaking everything from us that didn't belong.  Many small snakes shook out, those deceptive, violent voices, and old mindsets broke off.  Soon the rocking became like a sifting action, with fine dust falling through and valuable, solid nuggets left above. A big separation in thinking is about to come on the United States.  A great polarization, but different than the division we have gotten accustomed to seeing in politics.  No, this separation is about an appetite for truth and it comes with strength and unity.  I saw this baby spitting out food that was too s
