Childlike

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Mark 10:13-16~ "People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them,"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them." ~~We work so hard at times to be in control, to have all the answers, and to seem very important to others. However, that thinking is contrary to receiving and entering the kingdom of God. Isn't it nice to know that the more we rely on Him for our every need and the more we simply believe the words He gently speaks to our hearts, the more the kingdom of God is received into our midst. "On earth as it is in heaven..." ~Be blessed and b

Exiles Returning to Take the Land

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Ezekiel chapters 11-12, of which I will share selected verses~ "Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the Lord that faces east. There at the entrance to the gate were twenty-five men,...leaders of the people (the remnant left in Jerusalem). The Lord said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city. They say, 'Will it not soon be time to build houses? This city is a cooking pot and we are the meat.' Therefore prophesy against them;..."You have killed many people in this city and filled its streets with the dead....The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot, but I will drive you out of it....And you will know that I am the Lord, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you." Therefore say: 'This is what the Sovereign L

Stay On the Narrow Path

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from 1 Samuel 28:3-8~ "Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land. The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all the Israelites and set up camp at Gilboa. When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets. Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her." "There is one in Endor," they said. So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men when to the woman. "Consult a spirit for me," he said, "and bring up for me the one I name." ~The word today is interesting--it talks about how Saul loses heart when he sees his enemy gathering against him and th

Happy Thanksgiving

To all~ Unless the Lord directs otherwise, I will return to the "pen and ink" on Monday. :) Have a Happy Thanksgiving! ~Be blessed and be a blessing~

My Brother Ishmael

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Genesis 16:9-12 and Genesis 21:14-20~ And he said, "Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?"  "I'm running away from my mistress Sarai," she answered. Then the angel of the Lord told Hagar, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her." The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count." The angel of the Lord also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers." Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the

Intercession: In It For the Long Haul

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Isaiah chapter 16, of which I will share selected verses~ "Send lambs as tribute to the ruler of the land, from Sela, across the desert, to the mount of the Daughter of Zion. Like fluttering birds pushed from the nest, so are the women of Moab at the fords of the Arnon. Give us counsel, render a decision...Hide the fugitives, do not betray the refugees. Let the Moabite fugitives stay with you; be their shelter from the destroyer...We have heard of Moab's pride--her overweening pride and conceit, her pride and her insolence--but her boasts are empty....The shouts of joy over your ripened fruit and over your harvests have been stilled. Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards;...My heart laments for Moab like a harp, my inmost being for Kir Hareseth. When Moab appears at her high place, she only wears herself out; when she goes to her shrine to pray, it is to no avail. This is the word the Lord has already spoken

The Wonderful Smell of Clean Laundry

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Luke 20:1-8, and Luke 19:41-44~ "One day as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him. "Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?" Jesus replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me, John's baptism--was it from heaven, or from men?" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Why didn't you believe him?' But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet." So they answered, "We don't know where it was from." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things." 41-44) "As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wep

Break of Dawn

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Isaiah 60:1-3, 5, 10-12, 14~ "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn...Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come....Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion. Your gates will always stand open, so that men may bring you the wealth of the nations--their kings led in triumphal procession. For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined....The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the Ci

Our Hope is in You

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes to us as a teaching; for if you've been discerning in your spirit that you ought to pray for your country, the word from the Lord today will guide you. It comes from Jeremiah 14:19-22: "Have You rejected Judah completely? Do You despise Zion? Why have You afflicted us so that we cannot be healed? We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror. O Lord, we acknowledge our wickedness and the guilt of our fathers; we have indeed sinned against You. For the sake of Your Name do not despise us; do not dishonor Your glorious throne. Remember Your covenant with us and do not break it. Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is You, O Lord our God. Therefore our hope is in You, for You are the One who does all this." ~Be blessed and be a blessing.

Sweeping Winds of Change

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is a sobering one, and many may prefer not to read such directness from the Lord. But alas, the season we are entering is one of intensifying extremes, light getting brighter and darkness getting darker. And how does this occur? From a changing of circumstances, that's how. This morning I was praying and began to have a vision. I was seeing a sky full of dark storm clouds and thick white clouds. The wind was blowing so hard, I thought at first there must be spiritual fighting going on in the heavens. Instead, a voice said to me, "Judgment is coming like that which you've never seen before." In an instant I saw the wind blow so hard that it flattened the houses and trees on the land and blew it bare. As I was wondering about that, a chariot appeared, and the driver of the chariot extended his hand to me and said, "Do you want to come along?" I said, "Yes," and in an instant we began to fly up into

All Business Is God's Business

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Ecclesiastes 2:21-26 and Proverbs 13:22~ "For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless. A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases Him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner He gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God." "A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous." ~Have you ever

Lazarus, Come Out!

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from John chapter 11:1-23, of which I will share selected verses~ "Now a man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha....Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. Yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days. Then he said to his disciples, "Let us go back to Judea." "But Rabbi," they said, "a short while ago the Jews tried to stone you, and yet you are going back there?" Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world's light. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light....Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him." ...When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. "Lord," Martha said t

Church Home

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Leviticus 17:3-5,7 and 1 Kings 13:33-34~ "Any Israelite who sacrifices an ox, a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside of it instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the Lord in front of the tabernacles of the Lord--that man shall be considered guilty of bloodshed; he has shed blood and must be cut off from his people. This is so the Israelites will bring to the Lord the sacrifices they are now making in the open fields. They must bring them to the priest, that is, to the Lord, at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and sacrifice them as fellowship offerings....They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols to whom they prostitute themselves. This is to be a lasting ordinance for them and for the generations to come." 1Kings 13:33-34 "Even after this, Jeroboam did not change his evil ways, but once more appointed priests for the high places fro

Witnesses Multiplying Like Rabbits

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from John 10:22-27, 30, 37-42~ "Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon's Colonade. The Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me....I and the Father are one...Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father." Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp. Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. Here he stayed and many p

Here I Am, Send Me

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Isaiah 6:5-10~ "Woe to me!" I cried, "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for." Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" He said, "Go and tell this people: 'Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.' Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed." ~We are entering a season of great confrontations and the revealing of he

Tree of Life

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from John 11:21-27~ "Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha answered, "I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" "Yes, Lord," she told him. "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." ~I find the dialogue very interesting between Martha and Jesus. Firstly, because she is so sure that Jesus is the Son of God that she gives a hint to Jesus to raise Lazarus from the dead, saying, "God will give you whatever you ask." Then when Jesus tells her Lazarus wi
