Silver Lining of the Lord

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is taken from two passages; Acts 8:1-7 and Luke 9:49-50: "On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison. Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many and many paralytics and cripples were healed. So there was great joy in that city." Luke 9:49-50: "Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us." "Do not stop him," Jesus sa

My Intercessor and My Friend

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Job 16:19-21: "Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend." ~I love those verses so much. How awesome it is that Job, which most scholars agree was the first book of the Bible to be written, told us of such an intimate relationship we could have with Jesus, as "intercessor" and "friend." That even in our darkest moments He is there to comfort and to be our "witness" to God the Father that we are indeed His child, known and loved. The verses tell of no promises that our current circumstances will change; instead, Job is resigned to the fact that he would probably die before he was vindicated in front of his friends who were falsely accusing him of unrighteousness. Ah, but how wonderful it is that the Lord would doubly bless Job in the end....and actual

The Lord Is My Shield

Greetings in the Lord! It is good to write again and to share this special word taken from Matthew 10:5-42 (I'll write selected verses due to length of passage): V 5) These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons....V 14) If any one will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town...I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils... V 18) On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles....do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will b

Hot Off the Press

Greetings in the Lord! Yesterday the Lord had me buy a newspaper and read what was going on currently in the Philippines...the newspaper read more like a long police report! The headlines were filled with a supposed assination plot on the Philippine president and other government officials. The pages continued with stories of huge amounts stolen goods found by Custom's agents, armed robberies, other politically-motivated violence, business corruption, and the like. I was OK until I read the article about the on-going trial for the murder of an anti-corruption activitist. She was killed in March of 2005 for her outspoken viewpoints and push for anti-corruption legislation. It was about then that I earnestly prayed to the Lord, "Why have you sent me here to preach such a bold message against corruption, violence, and greed to Manila's leading police, business, city, and governmental officials? You gave me the word to share with them that they were to support their President,

Islands Exalt HIs Name

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word is from Jeremiah 31:28-30, 35: "Just as I watched over them to uproot and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant," declares the Lord. "In those days people will no longer say, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' Instead, everyone will die for his own sin; whoever eats sour grapes--his own teeth will be set on edge." V. 35) This is what the Lord says, He who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar--the Lord Almighty is His name: "Only if these decrees vanish from my sight," declares the Lord, "will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before me." ~This word is another for the country of the Philippines: As a servant of the Lord I write to decree that the strongholds of idolatry and c

Islands of Light

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Luke 12:35-37, 45-46: "Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them." V. 45-46) "But suppose the servant says to himself, 'My master is taking a long time in coming,' and he then begins to beat the menservants and maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers." At the beginning of this week I told you the Lord had me speak words to prominent businessmen, city officials

He Must Become Greater

Greetings in the Lord! Today's verse comes from John 3:26-30: "They came to John and said to him, 'Rabbi, that man that was with you on the other side of the Jordan--the one you testified about--well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.' To this John replied, 'A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, "I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him." The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less." In receiving this word today, I was struck by the sadness in the voices of John's followers as they asked him about Jesus. You can almost hear them question in their hearts the meaning and purpose of what they had been doing--had they been mislead in following John? Why were they to beco

Be A Fruitful Branch

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from John 15:1-2, 4, 16: "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful...Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.....You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit---fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name." It was yet another amazing day with the Lord! Yesterday, He arranged that I would be the guest speaker at Rotary Club Int'l, speaking His words to a special group of Manila's finest businessmen, lawyers, city officials, media and advertising agents, the Chief Inspector for the police, top Philippine entertainers, and a Maritime Captain. It was a great evening as we shared good conversati

His Footprints In Their Lives

Greetings in the Lord! I want to begin by thanking all of you for your continued prayers for me while I am here. My days are pleasant and joyful, and so busy! I know that your intercession is a big reason why :) May the peace and joy of Christ be poured out on you mightily for your faithfulness. Well, the 'God encounters' are sure piling up! The Lord is sending my way all walks of life, nationalities, economic backgrounds, and ages to minister His life-giving Spirit to. What a joy and priviledge it is to serve the Lord! Whether through sharing scriptural words, dream interpretations, visions, or words of knowledge and wisdom given that moment, the Lord is showing Himself powerful to these, His children. The interesting thing is that while all the people and their "stories" are so different, every one of them is either a grandparent/godparent or has a grandparent that they were very close to that introduced them to the Lord (and probably still covers their gra

Nina of the Philippines

Greetings in the Lord! Today I will share my first 'God encounter' while in Manila. Before I left to come here, the Lord put on my heart to "Go to the churches." So, in keeping with that directive, I decided to visit the main cathedral close to my guesthouse after dinner. The Lord also said for me to take my Bible with me everywhere I went, and at dinner had me open to Ezekiel 3:20-21: "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die...the righteous things he did will not be remembered...But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning..." When I got to the church there was a children's service (mass) going on, which I found out was also an outreach program to teach the poor children of the area English along with their parents. The group happily invited me to join in, and when they asked me to talk to the kids,

Shade from the Heat

Greetings in the Lord! I have finally made it to the Philippines..it was a long flight! But all is well and the Lord is present here too, imagine that. :) Today's verse comes from Isaiah 25:1-4a: "O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigners' stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt. Therefore strong peoples will honor you; cities of ruthless nations will revere you. You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat." ~Indeed, those verses are the song of the history of the Philippines--overtaken by nations in the past, but the Lord has set them free to be their own nation; while protecting them from storms and heat. In fact, now as I write a typhoon is on the horizon, there was an earthqua

My Mouth Will Tell

Greetings in the Lord! As I was praying and asking the Lord about the word to give for today, He put on my heart to begin to share with you all the "God moments" that will be happening while I am in the Philippines ministering this month....and have already have begun! Last week, there were two such instances, but I will share only one for time's sake. The first one happened after I was done playing basketball at Iron Mt. high school. On the way out the door, I saw the janitor, and we made small talk as usual. However, on that day he asked me where I was going to next and that opened a door to tell him about the Philippines, and then on to witnessing about Christ to him. He was overjoyed! He said over the past year he had been thinking more about eternal life, and he didn't want to go to Hell. He said he knew he was a good person, "I'd probably get in heaven, ya know, but I want to be sure;" but he didn't talk about these things with anyone so

To the Ones I Esteem

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Isaiah 65:13-16, and 66:1-16. Since it is such a long passage, I will write only selected verses, but know for sure that this entire word is for the nation of the Philippines. "Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: 'My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice but you will be put to shame. My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from the anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit. You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse; the Sovereign Lord will put you to an end, but to his servants he will give another name. Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes." Isaiah 66 talks more about the difference between those who are the servants

As Your Heart Prompts You

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Exodus 25:1-3: "The Lord said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze..." This word is given today in conjunction with the request from the Lord that I go to prophesy in the Philippines for two weeks now, in May. In prayer early this morning, the Spirit laid on my heart, "There is a woman named Nina that is waiting for you." I had a vision of a beautiful setting sun over a large ship in a port. As I turned around I saw kids playing and flying kites in a lush seaside park; off in the distance were dark mountians with thick, grey clouds hovering over them. The Spirit said, "I have chosen Nina to be a witness to the villages," which I understood to be more up near the mountians. I have not been to the Philippines before, but fr

Action Louder Than Words

Greetings in the Lord! Today's word comes from Ezekiel 33:30-33: "As for you, son of man, your countrymen are talking together about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses, saying to each other, 'Come and hear the message that has come from the Lord.' My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to listen to your words, but they do not put it into practice. With their mouths they express devotion, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice. When all this comes true--and it surely will--then they will know that a prophet has been among them." ~Beloveds, there are some of you who are refusing to listen to the Lord's counsel and are planning events, activities, etc. out of the selfish ambition of your own hearts. Woe to you! Earlier, in Ezekiel 33:28 the Lord
